Facebook Page due diligence: access, audience and assets
Understand Facebook Page access, Meta Business Portfolio ownership, audience evidence and associated liabilities before a handoff.

A Page’s public name is not proof of who controls it. The key questions are whether a permitted business-asset handoff exists and whether full control of the correct Page can be verified.
Identify the Page and its controller
Record the Page ID, not only its display name or URL. Ask the seller to show Page access and whether the Page is owned by a Meta Business Portfolio. People with task access, full control and business ownership do not hold identical permissions.
Map connected Instagram accounts, catalogs, ad accounts, domains and WhatsApp assets separately. A Page can appear manageable while another business still controls a connected asset. Check current Meta rules for business asset transfers and any restrictions before discussing price.
- Match the Page ID in settings to the listing.
- Confirm full control and business ownership separately.
- List every linked asset actually included.

Review Page health and performance
Request recent Insights showing reach, engagement, follower trends and audience geography. Compare ordinary posts and video performance over several months. Ask how much activity came from paid promotion versus organic distribution.
Review Page Quality, policy notices, name changes and feedback from customers. If the seller claims leads or sales, reconcile campaign data with orders and costs. Admin access does not automatically grant rights to third-party content, past customer data or advertising audiences.
- Inspect Page Quality and active restrictions.
- Separate paid reach from organic reach.
- Clarify rights to the content archive and customer data.

Confirm access through official controls
Where Meta permits a business-asset transfer or permission change, use its official controls rather than a shared personal Facebook login. Follow any approval or waiting period; test the receiving business’s role and ability to manage the Page before marking delivery complete.
Document the Page ID, receiving entity, included assets and any unresolved restrictions. Remove departing access only after legitimate control is confirmed. If a business owner cannot release the Page, an administrator’s promise or password is not a reliable substitute.
- Verify control from the receiving business account.
- Keep records of permission changes.
- Stop if ownership cannot be established or the process is disallowed.
